Good Faith Estimate Notice

Under the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) of expected charges if you are uninsured or self-pay (not using insurance).

A Good Faith Estimate outlines the anticipated cost of psychological services based on the information available at the time. Because therapy is individualized, actual charges may vary depending on treatment needs, frequency of sessions, or additional services.

You may request a Good Faith Estimate before scheduling or at any time during treatment.

Examples:

  • If you begin therapy and are seen weekly for 3 months (12 sessions), your estimate would be as follows:
    • 50-min Intake session ($190) + 50-min therapy session ($165) x 12 = $2170
  • If you begin therapy and are seen for every-other-week sessions for 3 months (6 sessions), your estmate would be as follows:
    • 50-min Intake session ($190) + 50-min therapy session ($165) x 6 = $1180
  • If you participate in an ADHD evaluation, your estimate would be as follows:
    • 3 hours of testing, 1 hour feedback session, 2-4 hours of evaluator’s time for integration, scoring, and report writing, and receipt of a comprehensive written report = $1100

If you receive a bill that is $400 or more higher than your Good Faith Estimate, you may dispute the charges through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. For more information, visit cms.gov/nosurprises or call 1-800-985-3059.
