About Dr. Cleveland

Dr. Cleveland received her PhD in Counseling Psychology from The University of North Texas and completed her internship at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Wichita, Kansas. She has worked in a variety of settings throughout her career including hospital, school, community mental health, academia, private practice and a university counseling center. She began her career in a community mental health clinic outside of Wichita, Kansas where she gained early experience working with adults, teens, and children with a wide variety of mental health issues.  Dr. Cleveland also spent 4 years at a school-based health clinic in the Bronx, New York where she provided counseling, consultation services and initiated a testing/evaluation service. She also worked at the McCarton Center for Developmental Pediatrics in Manhattan where she evaluated many children and teens with high functioning autism/Asperger’s (ASD) in addition to other developmental and learning disorders.

In addition, Dr. Cleveland spent eleven years conducting neuropsychological evaluations for children and teens with learning disabilities at SUNY Optometric College’s Learning Disabilities Unit in New York City.  She also spent four years on faculty at Fairleigh Dickinson University teaching  undergraduate and graduate psychology courses, and serving as an administrator of a program for college students with an Autism Spectrum Disorder. She maintained a private practice in both Cresskill and Ridgewood, New Jersey.  Dr. Cleveland spent 2 years working at UTSA’s Counseling & Mental Health Services where she continued her work with college students.  She is now full time owner and clinician at Sun Psychological in San Antonio, Texas.  Furthermore, Dr. Cleveland served on the Executive Committee of the Bexar County Psychological Association as the Early Career Representative (2021 – 2022).
